Babies need to spend a lot of time outdoors. Fresh air calms them down, upgrades the protective powers of their organism and enhances metabolic processes. Many mums reduce the length of winter walks fearing colds. However, winter walks can be really beneficial if you prepare well for them. Some advice on dressing your child for winter walks is essential in this respect.
Overdressing your baby is highly undesirable. Child’s movements are restricted, they sweat and overcool. Baby’s winter clothes should consist of three layers: underclothing for comfort, a layer of warm clothes and outdoor clothes for retaining warmth and protection against wind and moisture. Underclothing should be preferably made of cotton. The best material for outdoor clothes is wool. If you use a stroller, some good quality baby buntings for strollers would come in very handy. The clothes shouldn’t be too loose, but carefully chosen with regard to size and length.
Dress your child warmer than yourself but not more than one extra layer.
